MAINTENANCE MANAGER

OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB

To manage the maintenance department in accordance with the business plan ensuring that all plant equipment is maintained to optimally produce products that meet quality standards and are available to satisfy customer demand in a cost-effective manner. To facilitate a Quality Improvement Process within the maintenance department and ensure that it impacts on the operations and engineering process in an environment characterised by superior people relationships and cost effective solutions. To maintain an infrastructure, policies and procedures relating to employee health, safety and environmental legislation as well as Corporation and Company standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Negotiates, motivates and presents the maintenance budget and monitor performance against budgets
  2. Presents proposals for large expense items e.g. replacement of equipment, modifications to the plant and equipment, new installations
  3. Develops objectives for project based process improvements which reduce costs, improve efficiency, improve the working environment
  4. Health and safety risk reduction projects
  5. Evaluate and monitor the existing projects and processes to optimise plant efficiency and reliability
  6. Ensure production capacity planning to produce according to sales forecast and stock requirements as well as manufacture in the most cost effective process
  7. Ensure major repairs and rebuilds of plant and equipment to get effective capacity out of the plant and components and to minimise downtime
  8. Responsible for the water treatment plant, utilities and site general maintenance
  9. Manage and motivate a team of artisans
  10. Ensure efficient purchasing practises are implemented and maintained for spare parts for routine and scheduled maintenance
  11. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance or call unplanned maintenance.
  12. Ensure adherence to all environmental, health and safety regulations and standards for plant and 2 depots as well as the effective and efficient breakdown service

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ideally GCC with min 2 years management experience or
  • B Degree with min 5 years management experience
  • Overall 5 - 8 years in manufacturing environment (FMCG / Food / Beverage industry)
